Moses first met Zipporah at the Well of Moses. After fleeing from Pharaoh who wanted to kill him, Moses settled in Midian, where he rested by a well. One day, he encountered seven daughters of a Midianite priest who had come to draw water for their father's flock. Moses helped them by driving away some shepherds who were harassing them. This act of kindness led to his meeting with Zipporah, one of the daughters, whom he later married. According to historical records, it took Moses about ten days to travel the roughly 525km distance from Goshen to Midian. Moses likely chose to travel through the wilderness to avoid drawing attention to himself.
